Frequently asked questions
-
Why are we offering the non-electric saver?
We are already running a metered electricity trial at Wyatts Covert and Steamer Quay, which is proving successful. We are working towards having a new app and kiosk version, which only charges for what you use (no need to preload) in late Spring 2025, and we will review that over the 2025 season before any further decisions are made. In the meantime, we trialled a simpler solution in 2024 at 5 sites by giving members the choice on whether to pay for electricity or not, as we have received a lot of feedback about offering a non-electric solution on sites.
-
Where will this be available?
This will be available at all UK Club campsites by May 2025, with the exception of any campsite that is metered. To start, we will only provide 2 lock-out devices (meaning we can offer this for 2 pitches) per campsite, but if there is demand we will look to quickly increase this.
-
Will this reduce my pitch fee?
Yes. All of our current pitch fees have a built-in cost for electricity. When you stay on a campsite with the non-electric saver, this fee will be removed from your pitch at the precalculated average we presently use. This will save you money and reduce your energy requirements, which is always a good thing.
-
Can I use power on some days and not on others?
Unfortunately not, this relies on you being completely off-grid and we do not have the resource to manage this at this time. If we see strong demand we will review how we manage it in the future with more flexibility.
We ask that you do not plug into another available socket. If you do you will be charged for electricity for your full stay and may risk suspension of your membership.
-
Can I book to go non-electric in advance?
You must book your pitch in advance. Non-electric will be subject to availability when you arrive.
-
Why is there limited availability?
This is a low-cost service to assess demand from members to go non-electric. We started the trial on a small scale to assess the success, and are now rolling it out to all UK Club campsites.
